Resumen

The compatibility of a website is one of its properties which allows it to be seen in all browsers identically. The need for websites to be compatible has made companies to analyze multiple factors in terms of the user interface during development stages. However, because of the continuous evolution of browsers, this analysis of user interface characteristics is not enough. Thus, in order to avoid incompatibilities between browser, compatibility testing is very important. On the other hand, nowadays companies attempt to achieve continuous software development practices, where the goal is to release software to production in short development cycles and thus accelerating the testing processes. Currently, one of the testing challenges in software development is decreasing the user interface testing time, including compatibility tests. In this paper, we present a technique to automate the detection of web incompatibility defects using digital image processing. The results of its implementation indicate that it can be introduced into a continuous development process, increasing the performance and speed of the user interface tests and decreasing the amount of flaky tests that normally appear in this type of tests.
